An unconventional book of wisdom and life advice from renowned business school professor and New York Times bestselling author of The Four Scott Galloway. Scott Galloway teaches brand strategy at NYU's Stern School of Business, but his most popular lectures deal with life strategy, not business. In the classroom, on his blog, and in YouTube videos garnering millions of views, he regularly offers hard-hitting answers to the big questions: What's the formula for a life well lived? How can you have a meaningful career, not just a lucrative one? Is work / life balance possible? What are the elements of a successful relationship? The Algebra of Happiness: Notes on the Pursuit of Success, Love, and Meaning draws on Professor Galloway's mix of anecdotes and no-BS insight to share hard-won wisdom about life's challenges,

Nothing great, nothing that hasn-t been said before, and almost entirely about the author-s own subjective experiences. Nothing great, nothing that hasn-t been said before, and almost entirely about the author-s own subjective experiences.

The sum of the partsSimple steps so painful to take, Scott provides a path to help us put one foot in front of the other and lessen the pain so we can take the step.

A lot of good advice from a white heterosexual male born in the USA. It sounds like an insult, right? Except for professor Galloway points that he is privileged every single time. Still, those pieces of advices are valuable and appropriate - mostly focused on what not to screw. And this is the best kind of advice IMHO.

Better than I expected. Read if you want to be a better human.

Absolutely excellent book with seemingly simple and yet profound insights. Those criticizing the book as smug or bragging clearly don-t get Professor Galloway-s humor. If anything, his stories come off as self-effacing and real. I truly appreciate his advice on happiness as coming from someone in the business-sector as opposed to a psychologist. His stories about his children, mother, and family are particularly touching and will cau than a few readers to reflect on their lives. I wish I had Professor Galloway as a teacher while I was at Penn but this book is a very nice proxy.

Full of tenderness but with the popular American academic tendency to lapse into colloquialism. Very frank and honest, with useful advice on how to live a good life (relationships, love, time) and a lot of memoir. The first part, with all the formulae, is excellent.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Very easy read (short with big words) but lacks depth and is a bit all over the place in terms of story line. Lacks a consistent theme and rhythm is a little bit off. Would not recommend to friends.

Happiness is being a jerk, so long as you feel bad about it.

Entertaining ReadThe writing style is entertaining. Easy yo read with some good insights based on the author-s own self-reflection and experiences. Entertaining ReadThe writing style is entertaining. Easy yo read with some good insights based on the author-s own self-reflection and experiences.

I disagree with Scott Galloway on a great many things but I respect him as a person with some self awareness and integrity. If you know a young, straight man who is just setting out in the world as an ardent and unrepentant capitalist, this would make a nice parting gift.

Nothing super revolutionary but a cute read, and I-m sure it-ll resonate a lot with dads. Though this definitely isn-t marketed as a memoir, I liked learni about his background and upbringing. This gets a four because I-ve bought into Scott Galloway universe. He-s good at his job, so I ca about the things he says simply because he-s saying them. As a world renowned brand strategist his personal brand is no exception. Nothing super revolutionary but a cute read, and I-m sure it-ll resonate a lot with dads.
