It's time to face the final trial. . . The battle for Camp Jupiter is over. New Rome is safe. Tarquin and his army of the undead have been defeated. Somehow Apollo has made it out alive, with a little bit of help from the Hunters of Artemis. But though the battle may have been won, the war is far from over. Now Apollo and Meg must get ready for the final - and, let's face it, probably fatal - adventure. They must face the last emperor, the terrifying Nero, and destroy him once and for all.

Such a sweet ending to a highly entertaining and heartwarming series.

It just leads into others." Have you ever wanted to read a series but felt a) you are too old or b) you won-t like it? I felt this way about Rick Riordan-s books. I recently read The Tower of Nero which is the last book in The Trails of Apollo series and I discovered just how much I-ve been missing out on! Please don-t hate me for admitting this, I haven-t read this series BUT after reading this book I-m hooked on Rick Riordan and will be investing in his books, but first in the books of this series. Because I haven-t read the full series, my review is somewhat incomplete because I can-t write about the conclusion because I want to avoid potential spoilers. But as I read the other books I will update my review accordingly. Rick Riordan has so much to offer the reader and that is proven in The Tower of Nero. Apollo, who has spent a few months as a teenager named Lester is facing his final battle. Heading back to Manhattan to face Nero, Apollo (Lester) and Meg encounter old friends but also new ones whose help is of the utmost importance. I liked the humour that is mixed with the tension; it has been a long time since I laughed out loud while reading but the tension had me serious at other times. Because this is the last book in the series, the tension has the reader at the edge of their seat. This is the ending and anything can happen. The characters are amazing and my favourites include Nico and Will. I-m looking forward to Riordan-s next book about these two. What-s there not to love about this book? The characters, the plot and the easy writing style and the fact that adults can enjoy it too makes this book an easy favourite. I am astounded by how much I liked this book and even though I-m doing it all backwards, I-m so glad that I tried one of Riordan-s books otherwise I never would have known how much I liked it. Do not listen to that small voice whispering "you-re too old" or "you won-t like it", that voice is wrong. This book alone leaves you with a gut punch, so just imagine the full impact of reading the whole series. If Rick Riordan isn-t on your list, what are you waiting for? Add him to your auto-buy authors list right now. This review is posted on my blog: https://willowscornerbook.wordpress.c...

Rep: bi MC, Latinx SCs, Indigenous sapphic SCTW: amputation, parental abuse, gore---My Rating: 5 stars "To be human is to move forward, to adapt, to believe in your ability to make things better. That is the only way to make the pain and sacrifice mean something."This review is for 12-year-old me, who fell in love with the PJO books in middle school. She deserves the world. All of this is for her. :--)I really don-t care if this book has its faults. Every book does - there is no perfect one. To me, this book was perfect. It was funnier, better-pace action-packed, and it was so comforting to read. The conclusion was amazing, and it reminded me of how strong of a hold Rick Riordan has on me. "I-ll make things right. Or I will die trying."However embarrassing as it is, this was my most anticipated read of forever, since it was the conclusion of the universe of books that were half of my childhood. The cover was beautiful, the character arcs were beautiful, and I got choked up at the end (and that never happens to me. Never.) I really cannot stress enough how perfect the conclusion is for the chronicles. Like, I love it beyond words. It-s just a big flurry of emotion for how much I love these books and how much they got me through (because middle school is indeed hard and it does indeed suck). They-re the equivalent of a childhood stuffie or a blankie. "-You will come back?- she asked. -Always,- I promised. -The sun always comes back.-"Little Me loved these books so much, and I-m glad that Big Me still loves them. Who am I if not Little Me at heart? "However, anytime you take aim and prepare to fire your best shot, anytime you seek to put your emotions into a song or poem, know that I am smiling on you. We are friends now. Call on me. I will be there for you."
